Kara in Egypt

Monday, October 17, 2005

Sept 24/05 - Later in the day we took a short boat ride to visit the Temple of Isis, one of the three best preserved Ptolemaic temples in Egypt, on the island of Philae. This was truly beautiful, and harboured a calm, tranquil atmosphere. The hieroglyphics at this temple were equally impressive to those at Abu Simbel. The temples here, like those at Abu Simbel, have also been moved from their original positions to protect them as rising water levels threatened to submerge them forever after the construction of the Aswan and High Dams. Here, Wendy does her part in holding up the crumbling temple:)
