Cruising the Nile (continued)

Pictures are not permitted inside the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, which in some ways can make the experience more enjoyable without any worries about taking the perfect picture at the right angle etc. You can just enjoy the experience, and take mental pics instead. I visited four tombs, including the tomb of King Tutankhamen (aka King Tut). Our guide didn’t recommend paying the extra entrance fee for the famous pharaoh’s tomb, but a friend’s grandmother’s words “You only regret the things you don’t do,” reverberated in my mind, and I couldn’t resist descending the stairs to the small and fairly simple burial room. Still worth it in my mind even just to satisfy one’s curiousity. I resisted buying a t-shirt:P Let’s not go too far.

The Valley of the Kings was fascinating. Here’s a picture inside the gates of the path one follows along the tomb sites. Notice the top of the mountain in the distance. Looks like a natural pyramid . . .Coincidence? Many researchers think not.

The new tomb that has been recently been discovered is just around the corner. Hard to believe we just walked by, then again it's really not.
