Cruising the Nile - Last One . . . For real this time

After the Karnak Temple I visited the Luxor Museum, an excellent place to visit if you visit Luxor. With lots of interesting and well displayed artifacts, including statues, mummies, furniture, jewellery, coins, and stelae, I wandered the museum for at least two hours.

The Mummification Museum was somewhat disappointing, and I would not recommend it, though it is not a waste of time. After a quick snack and a chance encounter with a couple from the cruise I walked around the Luxor Temple before seeking out the Luxor Fair Trade Centre, which if anyone plans to visit it has moved from the location listed in the Lonely Planet. (It is now located near Emilio Hotel on Sharia Karnak not far up the street.) The selection is not vast, but I found some interesting gifts and the money supports talented, local, and often impoverished, artisans. Each purchase is accompanied by a description of the project and a page about the artisan whose work you have purchased. If you have some time it may be worth a visit. This project has me thinking about more potential projects. . .hmm…
