Back to the Big City

Let’s see. . .well, going back a number of weeks now, there was a particularly lonely and quiet week that had me going a bit crazy searching for things to do and people to talk to, emails to read, etc. Thankfully, the feast to end Ramadan came, and I received an invitation from a Canadian family in Cairo with an Island connection to my parents (Islanders know how it goes – someone knows somebody who is related to somebody . . .and all of a sudden there’s an introduction) to spend the long weekend with them. I had a great time with the Ryder-Burbidges. I caught my first glimpse of the Pyramids. . .from on top of a camel during a walk/trot through the desert at sunset.

R & J ride towards the Pyramids.

Here we are with the Pyramids in the background (you can barely see them, but they're there).
The desert is beautiful at sunset. You can see a group of people and animals on the top of one of the dunes getting ready for a race.
